The best outdoor garden historic wedding venue in the greater Washington DC area is River Farm in Alexandria, VA just south of Old Town. The property is home to the American Horticultural Society so it's just beautiful in every season. The bright spring green is an especially beautiful wedding day backdrop. And the largest Osage Orange tree in Virginia was a gift from Thomas Jefferson to George Washington and makes a romanic and shady location to say I do for your ceremony. The cocktail hour can be held on the veranda or in the garden. With a beautiful tented reception overlooking the Potomac River. There are so many lovely spots for wedding photos and the sunsets at River Farm never disappoint. It's a favorite spot to visit but also my favorite wedding venue to photograph wedding. It's the best wedding venue in my photographer's opinion. And the best part about getting married in May is that it's Peony season and a bright bouquet of bright pink peonies is stunning agains the spring green of the grass and trees. Touches of orange flowers contrast nicely with the pink. I love a colorful bride's bouquet against a white wedding dress. And can the smiles of this bride and groom be any larger as they have just said I do and are progressing down the grassy isle to the applause of family and friends. Such a special memory that you never want to forget. That is the purpose of wedding pictures. So you always remember.
